NEDEA Picnic

The NED Engineers Association of Greater Chicago (NEDEA) hosted its much-anticipated Annual Picnic 2025 at the beautiful and historic Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles, Illinois on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Despite the overlap with the thrilling Asia Cup Final between Pakistan and India, community spirit prevailed as nearly every one arrived on time. The event drew an impressive crowd of around 180 attendees, including 160 adults and 20 children. Among the attendees were 10 past NEDEA Chairpersons, whose presence added warmth and continuity to this cherished community tradition.

The day officially began with Zuhr prayers setting a peaceful and reflective tone. The event was hosted gracefully by Monis and Khusbakht, who served as emcees throughout the day. NEDEA Chairwoman Tazeen Akhtar welcomed everyone and invited the Board Members, Tiger Force, and the Newsletter Committee to the front for introductions. She also recognized the Picnic Organization Committee and volunteers for their dedicated work in putting together a seamless event.

Chairwoman Tazeen Akhtar shared updates on NEDEA’s ongoing initiatives and achievements, including:

  • A soft launch of the NEDEA website, giving members a preview of the new digital platform (currently in progress).
  • Announcements about the upcoming NEDIAN-NA 19th
  • International Alumni Convention, with free student tickets to encourage youth participation.
  • The acknowledgement of sponsors Mr. Anis Paya, Mr. Nabi Fakroodin, Mrs. Samina Saleem and Mrs. Afreeda Hashmi who helped make the picnic possible through their generous support.
  • A special community initiative — free picnic tickets provided to students currently seeking employment, ensuring inclusivity and continued engagement for the young engineers.
